The three options of circulation desk are:
  • E1- loans;

  • E2- returns;

  • and E3- reservations.


'Loans' is the option used to borrow and renew books, as well as checking up borrower details.
To borrow a book is a simple process using these steps:
  1. Scan the library card's barcode. If a message comes up on the screen, read it, sort out the problem, and depending on the situation, make a fair decision on whether or not to let the person borrow.
  2. Scan the book's barcode.
  3. Push it over the desensitizer, so that it will not set off the alarm out the front entry of the library. If it does not make a 'beep' sound, push the barcode at the back or spine of the book vertically, and desensitize it again. Repeat the process if it does not work again.
  4. Stamp the due date on the due date sheet stuck in at the front of the book.
  5. The book should now be ready to be taken home. Smile politely and hand the book/s over.
To renew a book, follow step 1 and 2, type in 'renew' at the bottom of the screen, and continue with the rest of the steps.



'Returns' is the option used to return books and record fines.
To return a book is one of the easiest processes involved in
